Cold Saw & Band Saw Sharpening

Metal cutting is hard on an edge. Frank's keeps cold saws and band saws in production, sharpening bi-metal band blades, friction blades and cold saw blades back to spec, and welding band stock so a snapped blade doesn't stop your line.

What we handle

Metal-Cutting Blades of Every Kind

If your shop cuts steel, aluminum, or alloy stock, we cover the blades that do the work:

  • Bi-metal band saw blades: horizontal and vertical machines

  • Cold saw blade sharpening, all diameters

  • Friction blades

  • Band saw blade welding and repair: broken bands rejoined and re-tensioned

  • Production quantities on a schedule, or one blade at a time

Broken bands

Snapped Band? We Weld It.

A broken band blade doesn't have to be a dead blade. We weld bands back to length, anneal the joint, and grind it smooth — often same visit as the sharpening. If a blade is beyond saving, we'll say so and help you spec a replacement.

The process

Ground for Steel, Not Just "Sharpened"

Metal-cutting blades fail differently than wood blades — heat, pitch loading, and tooth strippage are the enemies. We regrind tooth faces and gullets to the original profile so chips clear properly and heat stays down, which is what actually extends blade life between sharpenings. Welded bands are annealed at the joint and ground flush, so the weld passes through the guides without a bump:

  1. Inspect — teeth, weld joints, and band tension checked before grinding

  2. Grind — tooth profile and gullets restored on CNC equipment

  3. Final check — every blade hand-inspected before it ships back

Who we sharpen for

Keeping Metal Shops Cutting

Fab shops, machine shops, steel service centers and maintenance departments run their band saw blade sharpening through us on rotation — one set cutting while the other is in our shop. Smaller operations drop off or mail in as needed. Same grind quality either way.
